Project for Typography Class 2025
1st Project: Cybemurai
Keeping the history and theming of a font of our choosing in mind, we were directed to create a poster that matched elements of the font while using the font itself at least six times in different sizes. As the font was inspired by a fusion of samurai and science fiction, I personally took reference to the stylizations of Mobile Suit Gundam, where the franchise's roots combine both elements together.

2nd Project: Shattered Star
As if commissioned by a book artist, our project was to design a book cover for an artist that incorporated shattered glass, broken glass, or a broken screen. Below is what would be packaged as a letter included with my submission to this "Ashley Parks"
From Chicago punk to Hollywood starlet, a design for your new young adult coming-of-age should encapsulate iconography from both the second-city and Tinseltown. With equal references to the Chicago flag and film studio clappers, the back cover attempts to showcase the protagonist's background. This includes the checkerboard, which pays homage to punk culture. By including pink instead of white, we can also start to blend the idea of the Hollywood commodification and softening of identity this novel will include. On the front cover, the protagonist is covering her face with her hands, but the bright starlight is exposing her starstruck eyes to the audience; shattering a star-shaped hole in her hands, her cover, to the world. This creates a thriller-type emotion, and the bright colors help contrast the black-and-white arms attempting to shield her from the colorful lights. I am really proud of how I manipulated the title text with the leading. Half of each word is split into two as if to represent how the protagonist's identity is being broken apart in half. It's sure to grab the reader's attention and direct their eyes to the center of the page, and hopefully to purchase the book!
